What Happened to 'The Captain'?

Look, I'm a Sox fan, but I'll admit, I used to like Derek Jeter. I mean he's classy, sick player in his prime. The type of guy you figure if you ran into him he'd actually maybe like say more than "get the fuck outta my way" to you. But even I have limits, especially when the Captain himself turns into just another whiney Yankee.

Okay, so wait, Jeter is angry about how he was portrayed during the negotiations? DUDE. You are making 51 million dollars in the next three years with a fourth year player option. YOU ARE SET. You're game is slowing sliding into oblivion, and you are still getting payed straight cash homie. Now you look like an even bigger douche by bitching about your image or something after YOU strong-armed the Yanks for more dough. Such a douchebag move. You know he wanted it kept quiet that he was raking his team over the coals because he knew they would pay him regardless of how bad he blows lately.

You know what would have been the classy, Captain-like thing to do? Take 46 mil and tell the Yanks to take that 6 mil different to sign Cliff Lee or Crawford or somebody and call it a greeting from the Captain. Shore up your position as a class-act and a boss. Don't go all A-Rod money grubbing on us Jeter. I mean I'd rather hate him, it makes more sense to my soul, but I did like him, before he showed his true colors.
