Now here's the thing. When you are a projected number one draft pick, you go to the fucking League. You just do. Who cares if the NFL is about to negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement. Luck is still getting paid regardless. Number one picks get motherfucking paiiiiiiiid. When asked why the fuck he would pass up tens of millions of dollars to stay in college, Luck said he wanted to get his degree.
Oh hey idiot, High Five! |
Okay, normally I'm against parents taking the reins on their kids lives. But this is completely different. It's called growing up Andrew, you go for the money instead of staying to get a degree you won't use anyway. If he gets hurt next year or (more likely) just has a down year after this year's Cinderella year, then boom, you just pissed away millions of dollars my friend. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a money-grubbing fuck, but when you play football, your goal is to earn as much as possible before the age of 40 when your body collapses and you have medical bills out the ass for the rest of your life.
Luck's father should have sat his son down and said look, I know you're still mentally a high-schooler, with "loyalty to his class," at Stanford. But this is career time. When you are head-and-shoulders above every other NFL prospect, you fucking go.
Now there may be a silver lining. Now that Luck is staying, I think Harbaugh will as well. He also should leave. Go coach in the NFL. But no, these two are like Tebow and Meyer, butt-buddies for life. Idiots. The NFL is no place for idealists. You play football, how the fuck are you going to ever even use the degree you earn by staying?
