Cliff Lee: Salute to a Real OG

There was no better result to this whole Cliff Lee free agency saga. None. His deal with the Phillies was a huge "Fuck You" to the Yankees. And you know me, I love flipping off the Yanks.

Cliff turned down New York's 6 year, $132 million offer. Taking instead 5 years for $120 million dollars to be part of what will turn out to be by far the best rotation in baseball next year, and possibly one that will go down in history as far as the numbers they put up. And by not signing with the Yankees, he basically handed the Red Sox the AL East. Sorry Yanks, couldn't buy your way into 2011. Your club is full of old douchebags, and apparently Cliff Lee doesn't want to be one of them.

Now for the Phillies starting pitching. If the statistics are to be trusted, and come on this is baseball, they aren't losing at home. EVER. Of the best 6 Career ERA's at Citizens Banks Park, Halladay, Lee, and Oswalt are five, six, and three, respectively.

Oswalt at home as a Phillie has a 2.10 ERA
Lee's at Citizens Banks Park has a 2.52
Halladay's at home is 2.21

Those three are going to be the filthiest front three in baseball. The number four, Joe Blanton, will of course bring up the rear as far as that lineup but is expected to rebound from his career high 5.54 ERA in 2010. Even if he doesn't get it together, who cares. They'll lose one out of four games.

The Phillies have gone in one fell swoop from a hitting, offensive-based team to a powerhouse pitching club. The best part about this whole thing is everyone talking about how fucked the Mets are.


Cliff Lee, you successfully fucked the Mets AND the Yankees in one move. You sir are a true OG, who turns down an outrageous contract and a chance to have every Yankee fan hanging by your nuts to be on a pitching staff that will sexually assault batters throughout the league for all of 2011. I Salute you sir.
