I just finished Dan Brown's latest installment of the Robert Langdon series. The Lost Symbol is an epic 650 page novel that encompasses essentially one night excluding flashbacks and cut-aways. But Dan Brown does something special, he keeps your attention the whole time. He makes it hard to put down every chapter.
Another thing he does is perfectly balance the subject-matter. The book feels smarter than you but you can grasp the core concepts of all the science and shit he throws at you. And another thing, most of the references he makes besides the main conspiracy theory, are real things. That's how he makes these stories feel so real. Even the made-up parts are so close to something real, like Scottish Rite Freemasonry. If you are a history nerd like me, this book is the tits. If you aren't, it's still a good read although it does ramble in some parts, but rarely.
Bottom line, if you can handle 650 pages, read it.
