SAN MARCOS — One Texas State University student died and another was injured after the two apparently jumped from the first-floor window of a dormitory early Tuesday morning, university officials said.
Eirin Ann Hicks , 24, died Tuesday after being admitted to University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin, Seton Family of Hospitals spokeswoman Ellen Decareau said. In addition, 19-year-old Kristin McCreery remained in fair condition at the hospital Tuesday evening, Decareau said.
University spokesman Mark Hendricks said that about 2 a.m. Tuesday, three students — Hicks, McCreery and an unnamed male student — decided to jump out of a window at the dorm. Beneath the window is a hill, and the two women were injured in the fall, Hendricks said.
Hendricks said Hicks suffered head injuries and was in critical condition for much of Tuesday, and McCreery suffered back injuries. Hendricks said there was a small gathering taking place at the dorm room at Laurel Hall, but it is unclear why the three students jumped out the window. University police were interviewing residents and witnesses Tuesday, Hendricks said.
Police had been called to the dormitory because of a noise complaint, but Hendricks said officials do not think the students jumped to avoid contact with police.
So let me get this straight. First floor dorm with a hill underneath the window. There is a "gathering" ie party and the cops get called. Now if one person jumps out the window, you figure they might be fucked up on drugs or wasted or something. But three people? Seems fishy to me.
Secondly, what kind of hill are we talking about under the window? A fall from one story up shouldn't involve someone dying. The hill must have been steep as fuck. I don't know what the fuck is going on with this story, but I bet something fucking weird is going to come out of the investigation. I hope it's not as stupid as they jumped "to avoid contact with the police." And I hope it doesn't come out they were on Salvia.
