The Sox Might Actually Be Good: 2011 Preview

So no doubt you've been hearing about the Red Sox making some serious plays to open up the MLB winter meetings. Carl Crawford, big bat to add to the lineup to go with Gonzalez.

Of course the Yankees will lock-up Cliff Lee for some dumb amount of money and an asinine 7 years. But we will be able to hit Cliff Lee. Here's the projected Red Sox lineup according to Buster Olney.

2B Dustin Pedroia
1B Adrian Gonzalez
3B Kevin Youkilis
LF Carl Crawford
DH David Ortiz
RF J.D. Drew
C Jarrod Saltalamacchia
SS Marco Scutaro
CF Jacoby Ellsbury

Now this is just a best guess type of thing, but look at that lineup. The 7 and 8 are the only potential issues, but fuck me, the rest of that lineup is filth. And an outfield that is going to be deadly. Jacoby healthy hopefully for the entire season with the Gold Glove winning Crawfod now locked up at 7 years for $142 mil.

Welcome to Sox nation, Carl

And the Yankees cannot be pushed aside, Lee along with Sabathia as a one-two punch will fuck teams up. But the Sox will be able to grind out a lot of tough games with these bats. If the pitching can put together a decent year as they did last year, we are looking pretty good. Lester and Buckholz were pretty fucking good last year, and if the rest can come around, we will be nice. I'm actually excited for the AL East battle next season.
